If you're facing issues with your mobile app, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with some troubleshooting tips.
Keep in mind that your mobile apps are hosted in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, subject to their rules and guidelines. While these are outside Appfront’s control, they can still impact your app experience. We’ll walk you through a few steps to help you ensure everything runs smoothly.
Your Dev Account vs. Appfront's Dev Account
When it comes to your mobile app, the account under which it's hosted (whether it's your dev account or Appfront’s) generally won’t affect your customer’s experience. In most cases, your end-users won’t even notice the difference unless they’re advanced tech users. However, there are key differences in how things are managed behind the scenes.
Benefits of Using Appfront’s Dev Account
When your app is under Appfront’s Dev Account, we take care of the technical stuff! Here’s what we handle for you:
Regulatory Compliance: We keep your app compliant with the latest Apple and Android regulations.
App Updates: We handle all necessary updates to ensure your app is running smoothly.
Service Continuity: With us managing the account, you don’t have to worry about missing important notifications or updates that could disrupt the app’s functionality.
What Happens if the App is Under Your Dev Account?
If your app is under your own dev account, you’ll need to stay on top of:
Notifications: Apple and Google will send you important notifications about updates, terms, certifications, and other requirements.
Updates & Approvals: You’ll be responsible for reviewing and approving these updates to keep your app compliant.
Risk of Service Disruption: If you miss a deadline or fail to approve updates on time, it could cause your app to stop working, leading to potential service interruptions.
How to Log In and Update Your Apple Account
For Apple App Store
Go to the Apple Developer Portal: Apple Developer Account
Sign in: Use your Apple Developer account credentials.
Renew or Follow Apple’s Guidelines: You can either renew your account or follow the instructions to update any necessary certifications.
For Android Google Play
Visit the Google Play Console: Google Play Console Sign-Up
Sign In: Use your Google account credentials to log in.
Push Notifications Not Working? Here's What to Do:
If your push notifications aren’t working, it’s usually because your Apple certification has expired.
Log in to your Apple Developer Account.
Look for Error Messages: Once logged in, you should see an error related to the expired certification.
Renew Your Certification: Follow Apple’s instructions to renew the certification and restore push notifications.
Share the Updated ARN with Appfront's team: The ARN (Amazon Resource Name) is the unique identifier for push notifications. It acts as the routing address that ensures your notifications are delivered correctly. Once shared, our team can set it up under your account and ensure push notifications work seamlessly.
The status will be displayed as well.
What to Do If You Receive an Invalid Distribution Certificate Email from Apple
If you get an email from Apple about an invalid distribution certificate, it means your certificate has expired and needs to be renewed.
Steps to take:
Log in to Your Apple Developer Account ASAP.
Renew the Certificate: Follow the prompts to update and renew your distribution certificate.
Why Was My App Removed from the App Store?
There are several reasons your app may have been removed from the App Store:
Unapproved Terms of Use
Apple or Android periodically updates their Terms of Use. If you haven’t approved the latest version, your app could be removed.Expired Certification
Your app's certification may have expired. Make sure to renew it to keep your app active.Expired Apple Developer Membership
If your app is under your own developer account, you need to pay the $99/year Apple Developer fee. If this fee is not paid, your app may be removed.
