Every Appfront campaign starts with two decisions: the Campaign Trigger (the top-level category that defines who and how) and, when applicable, the Event (the specific behavior or moment that fires the campaign). This article covers the first layer — the Campaign Trigger dropdown — and the use case that makes each one worth turning on.
For the full list of events available under the Lifecycle Rewards trigger, see Lifecycle Reward Events: The Complete List.
Trigger | What It Is | Why Use It |
Lifecycle Rewards | The core automation engine — fires a campaign when a customer hits a defined behavior or lifecycle moment (sign-up, visit, birthday, spend threshold, etc.). | The foundation of any loyalty program. Powers all your always-on automations: welcome series, visit milestones, birthdays, win-backs, anniversaries. If a campaign should run automatically based on customer behavior, it lives here. |
Compensation | A manual, admin-issued reward for a single customer — typically a comp or service-recovery gesture issued from the back office. | Use it when a guest has a bad experience, and the team needs to make it right. Not for marketing — for one-off operational gestures. |
Landing Page Signup | Fires when a customer signs up through a dedicated landing page link (the | Track and segment signups by source. Run a social campaign, a grand-opening pre-launch, a partner promotion — each landing page funnels its signups into its own group for targeted follow-up later. |
Offers for purchase with bank points | Lets customers redeem accumulated points for a defined offer or menu item — the standard point-redemption mechanic. | The redeem side of any points-based program. Powers the reward ladder (e.g., 100 pts = free drink, 250 pts = free entree, 500 pts = $20 off). |
Tiers | Triggers a campaign when a customer enters, advances, or maintains a loyalty tier. | Required for any tiered program (Silver / Gold / Platinum, or Explorer / Samurai / Shogun). Use it to welcome guests into a new tier, deliver tier-specific perks, and reinforce status. |
Group Marketing | A one-time manual blast (email, SMS, and/or push) to a defined customer segment. | When you need a one-off promotional push — Mother's Day blast, weekend special, new menu launch, lapsed-guest reactivation. Pair with a segment built in the customer filter. |
Cashback | Awards store credit (a dollar amount in the customer's wallet) instead of a coupon. | Better than a % discount for high-AOV concepts — store credit feels like cash and almost guarantees a return visit. Strong for service recovery, VIP rewards, and subscription perks. |
Pick the trigger that matches the goal of the campaign before configuring anything else — everything else in the campaign builder (events, conditions, rewards) follows from this choice.
