This article recaps the "locations" segment of our Customer Journeys & Drip Campaigns webinar (AppFront Growth Series, Campaigns 201).
Why location-based marketing
If you run a promotion or message tied to just one location rather than your whole brand, location-based journeys let you target only the guests connected to that location. It's a highly recommended, currently underused tool for multi-unit brands doing local store marketing.
Auto-tagging locations
Add each of your locations into the journey template, and guests are automatically grouped based on which location(s) they've actually visited — no manual tagging required going forward.
Backfilling existing guests
The backfill feature retroactively scans your existing order history to assign current guests into the correct location groups, rather than only tagging guests going forward. It isn't instant — it works through your full database, so the larger your guest list, the longer it takes to complete.
Next up: a caution to keep in mind before turning a new journey template on.
