Turning On Journeys Without Double-Dipping Your Existing Campaigns

Webinar recap: a caution to check before flipping on a new journey template.

Written by Sarah Appfront

This article recaps a quick but important caution from our Customer Journeys & Drip Campaigns webinar (AppFront Growth Series, Campaigns 201).

The double-dipping risk

If you already have a standalone campaign running for something a journey template also covers — sign-up or birthday are the most common overlaps — turning that journey on without addressing the old campaign lets the same guest receive both. That's "double-dipping," and it's a mistake the AppFront team has seen happen.

Pause the old campaign first

Before, or at the same time as, turning on a new journey, pause or turn off any existing campaign that covers the same trigger. That way guests move onto the new sequence cleanly instead of getting hit twice.

Next up: why the gap between a guest's first and second visit is the hardest one to close — and how a welcome journey is built to close it.
