Learn how to set up subscriptions for your champion customers

Overview

Subscription program is one of best way to move your business into a SaaS repeatable income. There are a few use cases for the implementation of a subscription:

  • Monthly / Annual program / membership

  • Exclusive point bank offer campaigns for the subscription group

  • Special deals for this group

  • Custom point bank accrual rate overrides

  • MUG Club

  • Delivery Pass – free delivery program

How to set up a subscription program?

A subscription is a type of campaign in Appfront. We will need to define:

  • Type of campaign - would be subscription

  • Subscription price - that would be what the end users will pay

  • Description - the subscription message that the end users will see

  • Payment frequency - Select the recurring payment option and choose the time frame for charging customers.

  • Price - the amount they will be charged on

  • Group - any customer that subscribes to the program will be added to the group

Trigger type: subscription

This campaign should always add to a specific group created for specific for this subscription. Meaning, anyone that subscribe will be added to this group.

Subscription group:

As any other campaign, subscription campaign can enjoy the same functionality tied to any other campaign functionalities (i.e. give rewards, send marketing channels, etc).

Payment Frequency

The subscription module runs weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually per campaign settings. The system charges the selected payment method, keeping the customer in the group unless a payment fails, which triggers automatic removal.

Canceling a subscription

After signing up, customers can cancel anytime on the subscription page. Their card won’t be charged next period, but they’ll stay in the group until the current period ends.

Optional Use Cases Setup

Subscription program can be set up in different ways:

  • Special point bank offer campaigns only for the subscription group

  • Special deals for the specific group

  • Overrides for point bank ratio accrual campaigns for this group

  • Delivery Pass - free delivery program

  • And more.

Once you have any subscription campaign enabled, your customers will be able to see the "Subscribe" button in their account:

Clicking on subscribe will lead to a page giving details or if there are more than 1 subscriptions, a choice of which subscription to subscribe to:

POS Setup

*** For Toast POS customers ***

In order to create a subscription, first you will need to create an open $ amount item named "Subscription" in Toast. Usually this item should be placed in the "Appfront Items" menu.

The reason we need this item, is to close out the capture of the payment for the subscription, by sending in an order with this item to Toast.
