Overview
By default, customers earn points based on your standard points ratio (for example, one point for every dollar spent). If you want to drive purchases of a particular menu item, you can create a campaign that doubles the points a customer earns just for that item.
Steps
Go to Campaigns > Create New Campaign and choose to create the campaign from scratch.
Give the campaign a name.
Set the trigger to Life Cycle Reward, and set the event to Purchased Item.
Set the Target Amount — how many of the item the customer needs to purchase before they get the double points (for example, 1).
Select the item. Make sure you select it at all of the relevant locations.
Leave Recurring off if you want the reward to apply every time the customer buys the item. Turn it on instead for a punch-card style reward, where the customer only gets the reward every Nth purchase (for example, every 10th purchase).
For the reward, select Points Bank. This opens the Target by Price toggle.
Enter 2 in the multiplier field. Since your normal points ratio is one point per dollar spent, this doubles it. The field will update from "receive one point for each dollar" to "target 1 equals receive 2 points for each dollar" — confirming the customer now earns double points on this purchase.
Add any of the usual channels, and add or remove customer groups as needed.
Set an expiration date if you want the campaign to end automatically.
Save the campaign and set it to run.
